General information only
The content of this site is patient education. It describes why the dermis tears, how marks are assessed, and what treatment costs in time, irritation and risk. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.
No substitute for examination
How old your marks are, whether they have finished fading, how deep they sit, and how your own skin responds to injury are findings that can only be established by examining you and taking a history. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.
Results vary and are not guaranteed
Individual results differ, and no clinician and no website can guarantee an outcome. Some marks fade a great deal on their own, some settle early and change little afterwards, and a course of treatment that helps one person may do very little for another with marks that look similar. Any statement that appears to promise more than that should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it.
If something is wrong after a treatment
If you have had a treatment and develop blistering, spreading redness, increasing pain, fever, a change in the colour of the skin that is getting darker rather than settling, or a wound that opens or discharges, contact the treating team or seek medical care promptly rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
